Michael Adam grew up in Guatemala, a third world country barely the size of his since adopted home of Colorado. One of his first memories from his native land is sitting in the family room, playing Legos with his older brother while listening to Paul Simon's Graceland over and over, and over.
But it wasn't until his early 20s at college that Michael Adam learned of an unlikely 20th Century American hero, Johnny Cash. There's something infinitely curious about a person who comes from nothing and crosses into a place of everything that he related to immediately. “We grew up with very little in Guatemala, family, faith, and friends. Reading Jonny Cash's biographies and listening to his Rockabilly-Country-Folk style moved me to try and express the indefinable: life.”
THE LIVE SHOW: there's nothing like it. Michael loves to dance, tell jokes and get rises out of his audiences. He wants to hear you clap, sing a long, and he wants to make you laugh. The power of his music is that it moves people with its rhythm and honest lyrics. His silky baritone tops the evening off.
Michael Adam's first release, The Maybe EP, is an expression of life and love recorded in the early Colorado morning hours between his masters' classes and teaching. These are six songs about letting go and holding on to your self, to the truth. The Maybe EP marks the beginning.
“It must be all that worldly knowledge that gives Michael Adam's music such a full and rich tone, that feels so far beyond an up and comer.” – The Marque Magazine
“Michael Adam has done one of the toughest things to do in music. He's written a happy, Triple-A Radio friendly EP that skips the cheese, but still pulls at the heart… The single ‘NYC’ is worth it, alone.” –The Marquee Magazine
“Michael speaks to the Heart and Soul every time he opens his catalogue of heart warming mementos we know as songs! Do yourself a favor and have a Listen.” - The Walnut Room
“Michael Adam's performances… have always been an engaging and fun night, drawing the audience in as participants of a musical adventure full of life's many twists and turns.” - The Rock N Soul Cafe
